This programme of work began seeks to explore and bring better clarity to the landscape of ethical issues that arise from the design of the user-facing elements AI Systems. This includes ethically loaded areas of research on deceptive design and dark patterns, explainable interfaces, deceptive data visualisation, choice architecture, 'addictive' design elements such as read receipts and infinite scroll, and other ethical issues engaging the graphics, interface and interaction design.
